The Seventh-day Adventist Church in the Southern Asia-Pacific (SSD) is preparing for a series of leadership consultations and year-end meetings aimed at strengthening collaboration across church organizations and aligning mission strategies for 2027, with particular emphasis on digital evangelism, local church involvement and discipleship.
The meetings, scheduled for Nov. 4-11, will bring together departmental directors, union officers and representatives from the General Conference and other global Adventist institutions. Discussions will focus on translating worldwide mission priorities into coordinated initiatives that respond to the diverse cultural, religious and social contexts of the Southern Asia-Pacific region.
The gatherings follow the General Conference Annual Council in Maryland, United States, where global church leaders outlined strategic directions to strengthen mission engagement across church organizations, institutions and local congregations.
As division leaders return with these priorities, the upcoming meetings will provide an opportunity to evaluate existing initiatives, coordinate resources and establish practical approaches to advancing the church's mission throughout the region.
OneVoice27 at the Center of Mission Planning
A major focus of the meetings will be OneVoice27, a worldwide Adventist initiative that seeks to mobilize church members, ministries and institutions to share the message of Jesus Christ through coordinated outreach, including digital platforms and personal engagement.
Under the initiative's emphasis on All Things New, church organizations are being encouraged to move beyond independent activities toward a more integrated approach in which communication, media, evangelism, education, publishing and other ministries contribute to a shared mission.
For the Southern Asia-Pacific Division, which serves 11 countries with diverse languages, cultures and religious traditions, OneVoice27 presents new opportunities to reach communities where conventional evangelistic approaches may face challenges. The upcoming consultations will reinforce earlier OneVoice27 presentations, review proposed budget allocations and align regional initiatives with seven strategic projects identified by the General Conference. These priorities emphasize strengthening media evangelism through regional conferences and content creator training, developing contextualized evangelistic materials and proclamation resources, expanding global media production and short-form digital content, and implementing coordinated marketing campaigns to reach wider audiences. The discussions will also highlight Mission Intelligence, an initiative focused on identifying and reaching unreached communities, alongside division-wide proclamation and harvesting efforts designed to connect digital engagement with personal evangelism, local church involvement and sustained discipleship.
These projects fall under three interconnected pillars: prayer, training and inspiration; bold initiatives, materials and tools; and proclamation, harvesting and disciple-making.
Together, the pillars provide a framework for strengthening spiritual preparation, equipping church members and institutions, and connecting outreach activities with sustained discipleship.
Connecting Digital Outreach With Personal Relationships
Digital evangelism will receive particular attention as church leaders explore how technology, media and online engagement can help introduce more people to the message of hope found in Jesus Christ.
Presentations and consultations are expected to highlight digital strategies for mission, including initiatives involving Hope Channel, Adventist World Radio and other church media ministries.
These efforts seek to expand the church's ability to reach people through digital content, social media, online programming and other communication platforms, particularly in communities where conventional evangelistic activities face cultural, geographical or social challenges.
However, the discussions will also emphasize that digital engagement represents only one part of the evangelistic journey.
While online platforms can introduce individuals to biblical messages and create opportunities for spiritual conversations, local congregations and church members remain essential in helping interested individuals build relationships, explore faith and experience Christian community.
Bridging events, small-group gatherings, personal Bible studies and local church activities are expected to play important roles in connecting people reached through digital platforms with supportive communities where discipleship can continue.
This integrated approach seeks to ensure that digital outreach does not end with views, engagements or online inquiries but creates meaningful opportunities for personal connection and spiritual growth.
Mobilizing Ministries for a Shared Mission
Beyond digital evangelism, the meetings will highlight how different church departments can contribute their resources and expertise to the worldwide mission emphasis.
Among the initiatives expected to receive attention are the Publishing Ministries Department's Book of the Year, Children's Ministries programs that equip young people to communicate their faith, and Mission Intelligence initiatives associated with Adventist Mission.
These efforts, together with media outreach strategies and local evangelistic programs, reflect a broader commitment to involving church members of different ages, backgrounds and ministries in mission.
Rather than treating each initiative as a separate departmental activity, the consultations will encourage greater coordination so that programs, materials and outreach opportunities complement one another.
The discussions will also address how church organizations can support these initiatives through strategic planning, resource allocation, leadership training and cooperation with local congregations.
Preparing for Mission Beyond the Meetings
As the Southern Asia-Pacific Division prepares for 2027, the upcoming gatherings are expected to help establish a coordinated direction for mission across its unions, institutions, departments and local churches.
The emphasis extends beyond adopting new technologies or launching additional programs. It calls for a more intentional connection between the church's resources, its members and the communities it seeks to serve.
From digital platforms that introduce people to the gospel to local congregations that provide friendship, spiritual care and opportunities for discipleship, the emerging strategy seeks to engage every level of the church in sharing Christ.
With OneVoice27 approaching, the year-end meetings will provide an opportunity for church leaders to turn global priorities into practical commitments, strengthening a shared vision in which every ministry has a role, every member can participate and every meaningful connection can become an opportunity to share the hope of Jesus Christ.
