Pathfinder Camporee in Cambodia Draws Over 600 Youth Leaders

More than 600 children, youth, and leaders gathered from May 14–18, 2025, for a Pathfinder and Children’s Camporee in Kampong Thom Province. The five-day event emphasized discipleship, leadership development, and character-building through honors classes, interactive sessions, and worship experiences.

The opening ceremony was led by Pastor Roger O. Caderma, president of the Adventist Church in the Southern Asia-Pacific region (SSD), and Pastor Hang Dara, president of the Adventist Church in Cambodia (CAM), underscoring the church’s strong commitment to youth ministry in the region.

Cambodia is home to approximately 2,300 Adventist young people—a number that continues to grow despite the nation’s complex religious landscape. Situated within the 10/40 window, where access to the gospel is often limited, the Cambodian mission field presents a unique opportunity to raise a generation of Christ-centered leaders who can serve with purpose, courage, and compassion.

Participants attended various honors classes including amphibian, family life, first aid, stewardship, and handicraft. These sessions were crafted to equip youth with practical life skills while nurturing a deeper spiritual walk and a sense of Christian responsibility.

Guest speakers and facilitators came from across Southeast Asia and Australia, representing ministries in youth, children’s education, health, stewardship, and family life. Their collective guidance and encouragement served as a powerful reminder that young people are not only the future of the Church—they are its present strength.

Team-building exercises promoted unity and lasting friendships among campers from various provinces, while evening worships invited participants to commit their lives fully to Jesus. By the end of the program, 62 young people decided to surrender their lives to God—a powerful testimony of how the Holy Spirit continues to move among the youth in Cambodia.

Pathfindering is more than a program. In countries like Cambodia, it serves as a discipleship platform that prepares young people to be faithful stewards, servant-leaders, and gospel-bearers in places where witnessing for Christ remains a challenge. By blending adventure with spiritual purpose, Pathfindering cultivates the next generation of Adventist leaders—young men and women who will lead with conviction, grounded in faith and committed to service.
