Grounded in the Bible, Focused on the Mission

Carlito QuidetNov 11, 2025, 8:00 AM

In a world of constant change and conflicting voices, the Church must remain steadfast—rooted in God's unchanging Word and committed to its divine mission. Our foundation must always be the Scriptures, which are a timeless revelation of God's will. The Bible is not just a historical record. It is the most powerful book in human history. Every Adventist should be grounded in this powerful book.

To be grounded in the Bible means to allow God’s Word to transform our hearts, renew our minds, and guide our actions. It calls for faithfulness to truth in an age of confusion and for obedience to God’s will even in challenging times. Scripture provides a way to achieve holiness, happiness, prosperity, and eternal life.

The Church must remain focused on its mission. Jesus Himself described that mission: to make disciples of all nations and teach them to obey what He has commanded. Every ministry, program, and initiative must support this ultimate goal. The Church's mission is not optional; it is the very reason we exist. God encourages everyone to spearhead in proclaiming the gospel. Pr. GT Ng, the former executive secretary of the General Conference, emphasized that every person is chosen to become a church leader by the sovereignty of God, and He uses every leader in the proclamation of salvation.

Being grounded in the Bible and focused on the mission means working in harmony—leaders and workers, pastors and members, young and old—each contributing their gifts for the advancement of God’s kingdom. It is a call to integrate our efforts so that every program of the Church, from worship to community service, reflects the heart of the Church's mission.

As we move forward, let this be our shared commitment as leaders and members of the worldwide Adventist Church: to strengthen the solid foundation of Scripture and go forward with renewed dedication to the task entrusted to us by God. Let us be a community of missional believers, motivated by purpose, unified in faith, and resolute in disseminating the eternal gospel to all corners of the world.
