Adventist School in Germany Supports Ukrainian School

With the support of the Marienhöhe School Center from Darmstadt and the Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA), schoolchildren from poor backgrounds at the Zhyve Slovo School, in Lviv, Ukraine, are receiving a tuition subsidy, as well as psychological support and career counseling.

Teachers also receive professional help to process traumatic experiences and reduce stress. The Zhyve Slovo (Living Word) School is run by the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Ukraine. The school has become a safe haven for internally displaced persons from eastern Ukraine. So far, hundreds of refugee families with temporary accommodations near the school have received programs to strengthen their physical, social, and mental well-being. Among other things, a portion of the donations from the Marienhöhe School Center’s annual sponsored run is used for this project.

Besides subsidies to cover tuition, students will receive career guidance thanks to several workshops with experts in various professional fields, according to a report of ADRA Germany. Thanks to another initiative, the teachers, who work in a highly stressful environment, will enjoy a special retreat, which will include consultations with mental health professionals. They will also learn new tools to manage stress and better respond to the children’s needs.

Local Churches Celebrate International Women’s Day

On March 1 HYPERLINK “https://www.nsdadventist.org/nepal-churches-celebrate-international-womens-day/” churches across the Nepal Section celebrated the International Women’s Day of Prayer, a special occasion dedicated to spiritual renewal, unity, and the power of prayer, event organizers reported. Women led various church programs, emphasizing their vital role in fostering faith within families and communities.

Women from Nepal churches actively participated in the celebrations, leading worship services and engaging in meaningful programs. Leaders recognized their dedication and contributions to the church, as women leaders received gifts as a token of appreciation. All churches in Nepal served special meals fostering fellowship and gratitude among those attending, organizers said. “The event served as a time of spiritual enrichment, empowering women and strengthening their faith,” they said. “As they continue their journey of prayer and service, they remain a guiding light for their families, churches, and communities.”

“Women’s prayers are a powerful force that nurtures faith, brings comfort, and strengthens both families and churches,” said Shanti Pokharel, Women’s Ministries director of the Nepal Section. “By inviting God’s presence through prayer, women make a lasting impact on those around them, ensuring that faith continues to thrive for generations to come.”

On March 1 churches across the Nepal Section celebrated the International Women’s Day of Prayer.

Alaskan Hispanic Church Experiences Revival

The 36 Alaska Conference congregations reflect the region’s diversity, encompassing Native, Asian, and Scandinavian communities. However, there is only one Hispanic congregation, which worships in Anchorage. 

Despite the good intentions of members, the Anchorage Spanish church faced a decline, shrinking to only a few remaining members. This dwindling group has survived even without a pastor leading them for long periods. But an evangelistic series in September 2024 has helped revive that local church, regional leaders said.

The one-week series “A New Dawn in Alaska” helped the church experience a revitalization. Approximately 25 visitors attended each night, and by the end of the series 21 people had committed their lives to Christ. With a regular audience of more than 70 people, the available space was maxed out.

On Sunday, September 21, 2024, the Alaska Conference held a constituency meeting during which a report highlighted the revival of the Hispanic church. In a groundbreaking moment, several members of the Hispanic church introduced their newly baptized brothers and sisters. “It was significant, as it marked the first time recently baptized members addressed the delegates of the conference constituency,” leaders said. New believers “shared their testimonies of salvation and reaffirmed that evangelism is the church’s primary mission.”

A one-week evangelistic series “A New Dawn in Alaska” helped a local church in Alaska, United States, experience a revitalization.

Adventist Youth Celebrate Global Youth Day by Transforming Public Spaces

As part of Global Youth Day (GYD), about 4,000 young people and 2,000 Pathfinders from West Central Peru Mission took to the streets on Sunday, March 9, with the goal of transforming their communities through actions of service and evangelism. With brooms in hand and a message of hope in their hearts, volunteers cleaned-up parks, beaches, sports fields, and neighborhoods in Lima, Chimbote, and Huacho.

Under the global slogan “Transformed Communities,” young people not only focused on improving the environment but also on serving those who most need it. In collaboration with soup kitchens and in alliance with the Ombudsman’s Office, they promoted social assistance projects in areas where the Seventh-day Adventist Church has an active presence. In addition, Pathfinders, a teen movement of the church, joined the “Pathfinders for a Day” initiative, promoting values of service and leadership.

GYD’s activities were not limited to cleaning and social assistance. During the afternoons young people also participated in outreach initiatives across communities. In the evenings they led evangelism programs in squares and public spaces, sharing God’s Word inside and outside local churches.

Adventist Seminary Students Excel in Inaugural Biblical Languages Cup

Students from the Adventist International Institute of Advanced Studies (AIIAS) and Mountain View College (MVC) were among the top contestants in the first-ever Biblical Languages Cup 2025. Organized by the German Bible Society and the Philippine Bible Society (PBS), the event assessed participants’ knowledge of biblical Hebrew and Greek by means of demanding rounds in vocabulary, morphology, and translation.

Ronel Kian S. Cablinda of AIIAS came in second and Holden Zidreh E. Cadiz came in third among of host of applicants from different seminaries. Fourth and fifth place went to Gidson Franz T. Clifford and Luzell E. Omadle of MVC, confirming the presence of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in theological research. Brian Candelaria, of the Asian Theological Seminary, won first place.

Contestants attributed their achievements to God’s continuous guidance and wisdom, recognizing His role in their success. They also expressed gratitude for the opportunity to engage in a friendly competition and event with fellow students and believers from other Christian denominations. “Events like this create a space where doctrinal differences are set aside, fostering unity through a shared love for Scripture,” they said.
