Adventist University of the Philippines Holds Foundation-Laying Ceremony for New Medical Facility

New facility aims to advance holistic healthcare, education, and mission outreach in the Philippines

Jeruel B. IbañezMay 20, 2026, 9:59 AM

The Adventist University of the Philippines (AUP) officially marked the beginning of construction for its future Medical Center during a foundation-laying ceremony held May 14 in Puting Kahoy, Silang, Cavite.

University administrators, faculty, staff, construction partners, church leaders, and members of the faith community gathered for the ceremony, which highlighted the institution’s vision of expanding healthcare and mission service through Adventist education.

The project also reflects the Seventh-day Adventist Church’s long-standing commitment to healthcare ministry. Globally recognized for operating one of the world’s largest healthcare networks, the Adventist Church champions holistic healing, preventive medicine, and whole-person care that addresses physical, mental, spiritual, and emotional well-being.

In her remarks, AUP President Dr. Arceli Rosario emphasized the university’s dependence on prayer and God’s providence as the project moves forward. Rosario acknowledged the challenges of raising funds for a major development project but expressed confidence that God would continue to provide support through willing donors and partners.

She also shared a recent testimony of answered prayer after a donor pledged ₱1 million toward the first phase of construction, payable within one year.

Pastor Lani Esteves, senior pastor of the Philippine International Church, delivered the keynote message, reflecting on biblical examples of builders who dedicated their work to God rather than personal recognition. He reminded attendees that lasting foundations are built through service and commitment to God’s mission.

Meanwhile, Pastor Gerardo Cajobe, chairman of the AUP Board of Trustees, recalled previous institutional projects that succeeded through united prayer, faith, and collective support from donors and church members. He encouraged participants to trust in God’s timing and provision for the completion of the medical center.

AUP also recognized TRASS Construction Company, Inc., the firm leading the project’s construction and site development. Representatives from the company joined university leaders in committing to uphold quality, integrity, and safety throughout the building process.

As construction begins, university leaders expressed hope that the future AUP Medical Center will serve as a center for compassionate healthcare, holistic education, and mission outreach in the Philippines.

The ceremony concluded with songs of dedication, prayers, and a litany of commitment as attendees formally dedicated the project to God’s service and the ministry of healing for future generations.
