Adventist Mission Training Mobilizes Workers to Reach Unreached Communities in Malaysia

A group of missionaries and church leaders in Malaysia is stepping forward with renewed purpose after completing a mission training designed to reach some of the most spiritually underserved communities in the region. Held February 11–14 in Bintulu, Sarawak, the Adventist Mission Training 2026 equipped 46 participants to engage more effectively in frontline outreach, particularly in areas where the gospel remains least known.

Malaysia Union Mission

As Malaysia remains a priority field for Muslim outreach, the training emphasized intentional and contextualized approaches in Adventist Muslim Relations (AMR), alongside other frontline mission strategies. Participants were reminded of the growing need to engage communities with sensitivity, understanding, and Christ-centered compassion.

The training equipped two key groups: administrators and Global Mission Pioneers (GMPs). Administrators focused on developing and supporting mission initiatives, including project planning, proposal writing, and funding processes for Global Mission and Urban Centers of Influence. GMPs and Mission Refocus missionaries, on the other hand, received practical training for frontline work, particularly in AMR and health outreach, many of them serving in remote and challenging territories.

Participants came from across Malaysia and neighboring regions, reflecting a united effort to advance mission work in diverse cultural and religious settings. Resource speakers from the Adventist Church in the Southern Asia-Pacific region provided guidance in mission strategy, interfaith engagement, and health ministry, equipping participants with tools to serve more effectively in their respective fields.

Throughout the training, participants engaged in hands-on learning through the Mission Priority System (MPS), a platform that supports the development, funding, and monitoring of mission projects worldwide. Breakout sessions allowed deeper discussions on contextual mission approaches, while collaborative workshops encouraged participants to design practical mission initiatives tailored to their local communities.

The training concluded with a spiritual emphasis on commitment and perseverance in mission. Church leaders encouraged participants to remain faithful in their calling, recognizing both the challenges and the significance of reaching unreached people groups.

On Saturday, participants joined a local congregation for worship before visiting a nearby longhouse community—an active mission site where relationships continue to grow through consistent presence and service. The visit provided a meaningful opportunity to witness how mission initiatives impact communities and open doors for sharing hope.
